Natural Whetstone Karasu 577g | Made in Japan, Kyoto, Shohonyama
Shohonyama Suita – 577 g (approx. 187 × 80 × 18 mm) | Ghost Karasu Pattern
An authentic Japanese Whetstone (Natural Whetstone) from Kyoto’s Shohonyama region — renowned for producing Japan’s finest Finishing Stones (Awasedo).
This Rare Stone Suita features a delicate “Ghost Karasu” pattern, a faint and misty crow-feather texture that appears subtly across the surface — a visual hallmark admired by collectors and craftsmen alike.
Cut from old stock, this soft Suita provides smooth tactile feedback and a forgiving sharpening touch.
Its slightly porous texture helps form a rich slurry quickly, offering excellent control and a refined, kasumi (hazy) finish — ideal for everyday sharpening and gentle polishing.
The back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (traditional water-based protective coating) to enhance durability and long-term preservation.
