Exceptional Vintage Genju Funehiro 2-Sun Kanna | Shinwa Steel & Koyoshiya Dai | Made in Japan | Unused
An exceptionally rare, unused 2-sun (approx. 78mm) Japanese carpenter's plane (Kanna / 鉋) crafted by the third-generation master blacksmith Yuji Funatsu (船津祐司) under the renowned brand Genju Funehiro (元寿舟弘) in Yoita, Niigata.
Forged from premium Shinwa Steel (新和鋼) and traditionally deep-hardened using pine charcoal (松炭焼き入れ) for legendary sharpness and toughness. The plane body (Dai / 台) is crafted from premium Shirokashi (Japanese White Oak / 白樫) by the elite maker Koyoshiya (小吉屋). Perfectly preserved as unused deadstock with its original paulownia presentation box, greeting card, cloth, and outer box.
