Authentic Japanese Natural Whetstone from Shohonyama, Kyoto
This authentic Shohonyama Awasedo is a Tokkyū-grade (Special Grade) Hon-Suita natural finishing stone.
Originally purchased from a long-established cutlery shop in Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, this stone was personally sourced by the shop owner in Kyoto approximately 50 years ago, during the peak period of natural whetstone mining. It was then kept in long-term storage.
This genuine Hon-Suita features subtle Renge patterns and has a medium-hard texture with smooth sharpening feedback.
It produces a subtle kasumi finish while creating a fine, sharp edge.
It is an exceptionally versatile finishing stone, well suited for Japanese woodworking tools as well as kitchen knives.
