Shohonyama Iromono Aka-Kanmaki – 1590 g (approx. 210 × 82 × 38 mm) | 30-Cut
An authentic Japanese Whetstone (Natural Whetstone) from Kyoto’s Shohonyama region — famed for producing Japan’s most refined Finishing Stones.
This Rare Stone Iromono (colored variety) features a vivid Aka-Kanmaki (red ring) pattern running across the surface, giving it exceptional visual character and collectible appeal.
With medium to slightly soft hardness, it provides smooth, well-balanced feedback and strong polishing performance, making it easy to control while producing a clean, refined finish.
Natural lines are visible on the surface but do not affect sharpening quality.
The back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (water-based protective coating) to ensure durability and long-term preservation.
Originally stored unused for decades by a Kyoto whetstone dealer associated with the Kyoto Natural Whetstone Association, this 30-cut stone is both practical and historically valuable.
Ideal for plane blades, chisels, saws, and kitchen knives, it represents the elegance and functionality of Kyoto’s finest natural stones.
