An authentic Japanese Whetstone (Natural Whetstone) from Kyoto’s Atagoyama mine, part of the esteemed Shohonyama region known for producing Japan’s finest Finishing Stones.
This Rare Stone Awasedo was originally stamped “Gokujōhin” (極上品 – Special Grade) before professional lapping. The stamp has since been removed during surface preparation for optimal sharpening, but its provenance and grading remain fully verified through the pre-lapping photo.
Medium-hard in composition, this stone offers smooth feedback, excellent polishing strength, and outstanding control, making it ideal for precise fine finishing and mirror polishing.
It provides balanced tactile response and consistency — hallmarks of high-grade Atagoyama stones.
The back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (water-based protective coating) for durability and long-term preservation.
