Nakayama Tomae Nashiji – 792 g (No Suji, Razor-type)
Nakayama Tomae Nashiji, a highly regarded natural finishing whetstone from Shohonyama (Kyoto, Yamashiro), is treasured by sharpeners for its fine polishing power and refined sharpening feel.
This razor-type awasedo has moderate hardness with excellent polishing strength, suitable for knives, chisels, planes, and razors. In skilled hands, it can even erase fine sharpening scratches, leaving a flawless finish.
This example is a rare no-suji (clean surface) stone, valued for its smooth sharpening response. It has already been reinforced with Ishisan, a traditional water-based protective coating, ensuring durability, stability, and safe long-term use. Purchased from a well-known Japanese whetstone shop.
