Ōhira Renge Suita – 1717 g (approx. 213 × 81 × 43 mm) | Sakura Slurry, Fragrant
An authentic Japanese Whetstone (Natural Whetstone) from Kyoto’s Ōhira mine, part of the prestigious Shohonyama region — long celebrated for producing Japan’s finest Finishing Stones (Awasedo).
This Rare Stone, a Renge Suita, reveals elegant lotus-blossom patterns and produces a delicate sakura-pink slurry while sharpening.
Medium-hard in composition, it provides smooth feedback with excellent control and strong polishing power, ideal for high-carbon steels such as Aogami, Shirogami, and HSS.
One of its most distinctive features is its subtle perfume-like fragrance released during use — a refined and highly uncommon trait among natural stones (note: scent perception varies by user).
The back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (water-based protective coating) to prevent cracking and moisture damage while preserving natural breathability.
