Natural Whetstone Ōhira Renge Suita 800g | Made in Japan, Kyoto, Shohonyama
Ōhira Sō-Renge Suita – 800 g (approx. 131 × 78 × 37 mm) | Soft Finishing Stone with Subtle Floral Fragrance
An authentic Japanese Natural Whetstone (Natural Whetstone / Awasedo) from Kyoto’s legendary Ōhira mine, now closed.
This Sō-Renge Suita (総蓮華巣板) was cut from the same fragrant lot as the renowned Sakura Renge Suita, displaying elegant lotus-flower (Renge) patterns across its surface and producing a creamy, faintly pink slurry.
When wet, a subtle floral note can be detected — a refined and gentle scent unique to this rare Ōhira lot. Soft in hardness, it provides smooth feedback, easy slurry generation, and an exceptionally fine kasumi-style finish, especially suitable for Japanese kitchen knives and fine edge tools.
The back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (traditional water-based protective coating) to ensure durability and long-term preservation.
