Natural Whetstone Ōhira Suita 1869g | Made in Japan, Kyoto, Shohonyama
Shohonyama Ōhira Suita Japanese Natural Whetstone — Daikudou Tokusen Grade (1,869g)
Approx. 222 × 85 × 41 mm
An authentic, extra-thick #24 size Suita natural whetstone from the historic Ōhira Mine in Kyoto, Japan.
This premium stone is a highly desirable Su-Nashi type, meaning it is free from the air holes commonly associated with Suita stones. This structure provides a smooth, stable sharpening experience with an excellent balance of cutting speed and polishing refinement.
Mined from old Ōhira stock, the stone features a medium-textured abrasive structure combined with strong polishing power and responsive cutting action. While natural suji (lines) are visible on the surface, they are entirely harmless and do not affect sharpening performance.
The result is a versatile finishing stone capable of producing refined edges and an elegant traditional Kasumi finish.
