Shohonyama Ōhira Uchigumori Japanese Natural Whetstone (2,135g)
Approx. 207 × 70 × 62 mm
An authentic, large Uchigumori natural whetstone from the legendary Ōhira Mine in Kyoto, Japan.
This high-grade stone features a naturally weathered white exterior that conceals a clean, classic, and premium Uchigumori sharpening surface beneath. Once lapped, it reveals the refined characteristics that have made Ōhira Uchigumori stones famous among craftsmen and collectors worldwide.
Traditionally used in the final stages of Japanese sword polishing, Uchigumori stones are highly regarded for their unique finishing qualities. This stone produces a rich, pinkish slurry and creates a flawless, misty Kasumi finish that beautifully enhances the Hamon (temper line) and Jihada (forged steel grain pattern).
To preserve its traditional heritage and originality, the stone has intentionally been left in its original, unlapped condition, allowing the owner to prepare the surface according to personal preference.
