A rare, extra-thick #24 size Uchigumori natural whetstone from the legendary Ōhira mine in Kyoto, Japan.
This exceptional piece features beautiful and distinct Renge (lotus blossom) patterns throughout the stone, making it both a high-performance sharpening tool and a highly desirable collector's specimen.
Ōhira Uchigumori stones are highly revered and have traditionally been used in the final stages of Japanese sword polishing. They are world-renowned for producing a flawless, misty Kasumi finish that beautifully accentuates the Hamon (temper line) and Jihada (forged steel grain pattern).
