Natural Whetstone Renge Suita 672g | Made in Japan, Kyoto, Shohonyama
Renge Suita – 672 g (approx. 157 × 75 × 26 mm) | Soft Finishing Stone with Subtle Fragrance
An authentic Japanese Natural Whetstone (Natural Whetstone / Awasedo) quarried from Kyoto’s famous Ōhira mine, one of the most revered sources within the Shohonyama region.
This Renge Suita (蓮華巣板) features elegant lotus-flower patterns and a delicate soft touch typical of fine Ōhira stones.
Soft in hardness, it provides smooth sharpening feedback, generates slurry easily, and produces a refined kasumi (misty) finish. It is ideal for kitchen knives, chisels, plane blades, and razors.
A distinguishing feature of this piece is its subtle natural fragrance released when slurry is raised — a rare and collectible characteristic found in only a handful of Ōhira stones.
The back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (traditional water-based protective coating) for durability and long-term stability.
