An authentic Japanese Natural Whetstone (Natural Whetstone / Awasedo) quarried from Kyoto’s historic Ōhira mine, one of the most esteemed sources within the Shohonyama region.
This Renge Suita (蓮華巣板) features refined lotus-flower patterns and embodies the elegant, soft texture characteristic of fine Ōhira Suita stones.
Soft in hardness, it provides smooth sharpening feedback and generates a gentle kasumi (misty) finish, making it ideal for kitchen knives, chisels, and plane blades.
When raising slurry, the stone releases a subtle natural fragrance, a rare and collectible trait among natural whetstones.
A natural line runs across the center but does not affect sharpening. The back had a natural crack that has been professionally sealed and reinforced with Ishisan (water-based protective coating), ensuring stability and safe long-term use.
