Natural Whetstone Renge Suita 820g | Made in Japan, Kyoto, Shohonyama
Renge Suita – 820 g (approx. 157 × 78 × 28 mm) | Soft Finishing Stone with Subtle Fragrance
An authentic Japanese Natural Whetstone (Natural Whetstone / Awasedo) quarried from Kyoto’s famous Ōhira mine, one of the most celebrated sources within the Shohonyama region.
This Renge Suita (蓮華巣板) displays graceful lotus-flower patterns over a soft blue-toned base, giving it both aesthetic charm and functional refinement.
Soft in hardness, it produces smooth sharpening feedback, quick slurry formation, and a gentle kasumi-style finish. Ideal for kitchen knives, chisels, and plane blades, it provides a forgiving, natural feel on steel.
This particular stone is distinguished by its subtle natural fragrance released when raising slurry — a rare and collectible trait appreciated by experienced sharpeners and collectors alike.
The back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (water-based protective coating) to prevent cracking, stabilize moisture absorption, and ensure long-term durability.
