Shohonyama Tomae Asagi – 1900 g (approx. 212 × 82 × 43 mm) | Hard, No-Suji Finishing Stone
An authentic Japanese Whetstone and Natural Whetstone (Awasedo) from Kyoto’s Shohonyama region.
This Tomae Asagi (戸前浅黄) weighs 1900 g and features a clean, flawless No-Suji surface, cut thick for both professional use and long-term durability.
Quarried from the same geological layer as the Kanmaki (ring-marked) type, it shares the same ultra-fine grain and highly refined Sharpening Stone characteristics.
Hard and dense, it produces minimal slurry yet provides crisp, responsive feedback—ideal for achieving razor-sharp, mirror-like edges with precise control.
The sharpening face is perfectly clean and lapped flat.
Back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (traditional water-based protective coating) for stability and moisture resistance.
