From the artisan workshop DAIKUDOU, this is a refined Japanese Whetstone and Natural Whetstone (Awasedo) quarried from the Shohonyama region in Kyoto, Japan.
This Tomae Asagi (戸前浅黄) weighs 860 g and represents a medium-sized finishing Sharpening Stone that balances polishing power and refined surface control, embodying the elegance and precision of Kyoto’s traditional craftsmanship.
With medium-hard hardness, it offers the smooth tactile feedback characteristic of Asagi stones, forming a sharp, keen edge and a beautiful kasumi (mist)-style finish.
The stone has been carefully lapped flat and chamfered, ready for immediate use.
Back and sides are sealed with Ishisan (traditional water-based protective coating) for durability, moisture protection, and long-term stability.
