Shohonzan Renge Suita – 1369 g (approx. 210 × 85 × 37 mm) | 30-Cut Soft Finishing Stone with Subtle Fragrance
This is an authentic Shohonzan Renge Suita (蓮華巣板) natural finishing whetstone from Kyoto, Japan, weighing 1369 g.
It features a beautiful white base tone with elegant Renge (lotus-flower) patterns across the surface — a hallmark of fine Suita stones.
Soft and slightly coarse in texture, it provides quick cutting and fast slurry generation, making it ideal for initial finishing or intermediate sharpening stages.
Despite its softness, it maintains excellent tactile feedback, producing a refined kasumi-style finish.
This stone belongs to the “30-kiri” (三十切) size class — compact, well-balanced, and easy to handle.
A notable and extremely rare feature of this piece is its subtle perfume-like fragrance released when wet, a unique trait found only in select Renge Suita lots. Though faint, it leaves a lasting impression among collectors and sharpeners familiar with these exceptional stones.
