Nakayama Tomae 1005g – Razor-Type No-Suji Awasedo
Nakayama Tomae, often called the “Yokozuna of Whetstones,” is one of the most highly regarded natural finishing stones from Shohonyama (Kyoto, Yamashiro).
This rare razor-type (leather-type) Awasedo weighs 1005 g and measures approximately 150 × 90 × 30 mm. It features a No-Suji (clean surface) sharpening face, offering excellent polishing power with moderate hardness. In skilled hands, it can even erase sharpening scratches, leaving a refined and brilliant finish.
The stone has been reinforced with Youjyouzumi (water-based protective coating), ensuring durability, stability, and safe long-term use. Purchased from a respected Japanese whetstone dealer, it represents the highest level of Nakayama craftsmanship.
Ideal for finishing razors, kitchen knives, chisels, and planes, this is both a functional whetstone and a collectible piece. A legendary Nakayama Tomae of this quality is seldom seen on the market.
